Kolkata, July 15: The body of the editor of CPI mouthpiece Kalantar Chandan Chakraborty, who was missing since Sunday, was on Wednesday recovered from Hooghly river, police said.
Chakraborty, a bachelor, was also a member of the CPI state secretariat.
Preliminary investigations revealed that 52-year-old Chakraborty committed suicide by jumping from a moving launch into the river on Sunday, Javed Shamim, DCDD in charge of HQ, said.
A bag left on the launch was submitted to the North Port police station and papers contained in it revealed that it belonged to Chakraborty.
The body was found near Chitpur ghat on Wednesday and it was identified by his brother, Shamim said.
