CPI MLA marries childhood friend

Hyderabad, June 09: Communist Party of India MLA from Wyra in Khammam district, Banoth Chandravathi on Wednesday set an example by opting to marry her childhood friend in a simple ceremony in the city.

The MLA, who also holds a medical degree, married her beloved, a software engineer named Suresh under the Special Marriages act.

CPI general secretary K Narayana acted as a ‘priest’, reciting the marriage vows to the couple while Speaker of the AP state Assembly Nadendla Manohar signed as a witness on the Marriage Register.

Mr Narayana later introduced the newly-married couple to the few media persons present.

The marriage was performed in the presence of a few close friends as the MLA belongs to the ST community and her parents had objected to the wedding.
Among the guests present were several MLAs, politicians and Ministers. Dr Chandravathi is one of the youngest members of the House.
