New Delhi: Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Thursday hailed the victory of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, saying the results are against the unprecedented corruption and misrule by the UDF in last five years.
“In Kerala, there has been a very historic victory of the Left Democratic Alliance, we hail this victory. This is a verdict against the unprecedented corruption which we have never seen in Kerala and the misrule by the UDF government in last five years,” Yechury told the media here.
“We salute the people of Kerala for the faith they have reposed in the LDF and we assure that we will fulfill the promises that we have made to the people of Kerala,” he added.
Attacking the BJP, which managed to win a seat in Kerala, Yechury said the saffron party “conducted a very strident communal campaign in the state.”
“While hailing this victory, we also note that the BJP had conducted a very strident communal campaign led by the Prime Minster and the BJP president and it managed to enter the Kerala Assembly now with one seat,” he added.
Yeachury also said that the LDF government will be a clean government which will be responsible to people’s concern.
“The government will implement many far reaching policy initiatives for the further development of Kerala,” he added.
Commenting upon the Bengal election results, Yechury said the party will examine the reasons and review the results that were adopted by the Left front in this election.
“As far as the Bengal is concerned, we respect the verdict of the people of Bengal who have returned the TMC with a big majority,” he said.
“At the same time we salute the cadre of Left front and CPI (M), whom very bravely and heroically withstood all this terror, intimidation and attacks that have happened in Bengal even during the election in Bengal,” he added.
Yechury also said that usually there are no violence and death while elections are on, but during this election campaign the party lost four of its workers.
“We didn’t expect this but we are prepared to counter this politics of terror,” he added.
When asked who would be the chief minister in Kerala, Yechury said he is going to Kerala tomorrow, where the state secretariat and the state committee are meeting.
“They will be taking the decision on the government formation and responsibilities for individual. All these decision would be taken without any problem or controversy,” he added. (ANI)
