CPI (M) demands arrest of four ministers in Jagan’s assets case

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation arrest all the ministers who issued controversial GOs that helped Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy accumulate illegal wealth.

Talking to reporters after inaugurating new party office Sundraya Vignana Kendram at Gudivada, CPI (M) State Secretary BV Raghavulu said that of 13 accused in the disproportionate assets case, the CBI has arrested only three accused. Accusing the CBI of resorting to selective arrests, he said that CBI’s selective investigation would never give a complete picture of the economic offences committed by Jaganmohan Reddy.

Hailing the arrest of former Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, Raghavulu said that the CBI should arrest four other ministers who were served notices by the Supreme Court for issuing 26 controversial GOs favouring Jagan’s corruption. He said the selective arrests lead to suspicion that the CBI’s probe was partial and the officials were facing political pressure to spare the other ministers involved in the case. (INN)
