LIVE: CPI-M, BJP neck-and-neck in Tripura, Congress strong in Meghalaya

AGARTALA: As the counting of votes for Tripura Assembly election is underway, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) alliance is leading on 33seats followed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 26 leads as per the early trends on Saturday.

Polling has been countermanded in one constituency of the 60-strong assembly following the death of a CPI-M candidate a week before the February 18 polls and recorded around 92 per cent voting.

As per the latest trends in MeghalayaAssembly elections, released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Congress is leading on 23 seats.

The counting for 59 seats of the 60 seats in the state began at 8:00 a.m. and the results are expected by the afternoon.

As the counting of votes for Nagaland Assembly election is underway, the early trends show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) alliance has been leading on 31 seats.

Meanwhile, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has been leading on 27 seats.
