CPI leader for death penalty to CBI special judge

The Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Dr K. Narayana has strongly felt that death penalty was suitable punishment for CBI Special Court Judge T. Pattabhi Ramarao, who allegedly accepted bribe for granting bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy, who was the principal accused in Obulapuram Mining Company case, from his henchmen.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Narayana alleged that the ruling Congress and the YSR Congress parties were trading charges over late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s death instead of talking about political corruption in the State. He also charged both the parties with trying to divert the issue of political corruption. He alleged that the Congress and YSR Congress parties were enacting dramas on late YSR’s death. Describing YSR’s death as a political suicide, the CPI leader expressed surprise over the Congress legislators switching over their loyalty to YSR Congress party even as unprecedented corruption took place during YSR regime.

Narayana demanded that the State government convene an all-party meeting on the new Excise Policy. He wanted the State government to operate itself 50 per cent of liquor shops and the remaining 50 per cent by private candidates. He alleged that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was trying to protect the Congress leaders, who were facing corruption charges in Liquor Syndicate case.

Narayana also welcomed the decision of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee extending support to Telangana Rashtra Samiti in Parakala by-election. He reiterated his party was not ready to join the TP Joint Action Committee. (NSS)
