CPI expresses concern over killings in Bengal

Kolkata, December 22: Left Front partner CPI today expressed concern at spurt in killings and political terror in West Bengal.

CPI state secretary Manju Kumar Majumder said individual killings and terror posed a grave danger to the democratic environment in the state after the last Lok Sabha elections.

“Terror and killings close the door of social development and, as a result, people’s real problems are never resolved,” he said appealing to all political parties to close ranks againts terror and violence “which have become a daily affair”.

Majumder said most victims belonged to scheduled caste/tribe and the minority community.

The Chief Minister had yesterday informed the state assembly that law and order in the state, though not satisfactory, was still better than Delhi and other states.
