The CPI central secretariat has expressed severe concern over the growing racist attacks on Indians in the USA of late after Trump took over as President. After the gruesome murder of Srinivas Kuchibotla, a Gujarati trader Harnish Patel, who was living in the US with his family for 14 years was brutally murdered and two days later another Indian Sikh Deep Rai, 39, was shot at by fanatics with the same hate slogan ‘Go back to your country’.
An Indian woman in metro was also threatened by a Black American with shouts of ‘Go back’. These are only a few incidents and there is a constant fear among the Indians, with each of these incidents. There is a wide spread genuine feeling among the immigrant communities in the United States and their kith and kin outside the US that President Donald Trump’s executive orders including one on denying visas to other nationals are resulting in increased attacks on the immigrants.
In a pressnote here today, CPI general secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy stated, “The Government of India should take up the issue with the U.S. government immediately. The Hindutva groups in the United States, who supported Donald Trump are making big voice on a film on ‘Aghoras’ in the USA trying to undermine the racist poison unleashed by their beloved leader Donald Trump. Racism should be fought unitedly by all the democratic minded people. It is high time that the US government take stern action against the perpetrators of racist hatred with determination”. (NSS)
