CPI demands resignation of tainted ministers

The Communist Party of India on Sunday demanded that the ministers facing charges of helping YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in accumulation of illegal wealth should resign from the cabinet.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on agriculture crisis in the State, CPI State Secretary K Narayana said that the tainted ministers should resign from their posts with immediate effect. He said that the Central Bureau of Investigation would not be able to conduct a fair investigation into Jagan’s assets case if the ministers continue on their posts.

Regarding by-elections, Narayana appealed to the voters not to vote for the candidates having criminal background.

The CPI leader also slammed the State Government for having failed to provide required assistance to the farmers across the State. He said that the government has delayed decision in fixing the right prices for the farm produce which primarily benefitted the middlemen. He said most of the time farmers were forced to sell their produce at cheaper rates. He also expressed concern over the helplessness of elected representatives in helping the farmers. (INN)
