CPI demands judicial probe into murder of Dalit youth in Mathani

Stating that doubts were being expressed behind the death of a Dalit youth Madhukar in Manthani town of Peddapalli district recently, Telangana State CPI secretary Chada Venkat Reddy today demanded that the State government order a judicial inquiry and bring the culprits, how big they may be, to book.

In a pressnote here today, the CPI leader stated the deceased Dalit youth had a love affair with a girl of an upper caste that led to the murder of Madhukar. He also suspected hand of some ruling TRS party leaders behind the brutal murder of Dalit boy. He stated on behalf of his party, a fact-finding team, led by party’s former MLA Gunda Mallesh, visited the village of the deceased and consoled the bereaved family members.

The CPI leader also recalled that another Dalit youth, one Sai Kumar, of Amrad village in Nizamabad district had married a girl of an upper caste recently. The girl’s relatives, who could not digest the inter-caste marriage, had allegedly done the boy to death within a month of the marriage, he alleged.

Severely condemning the “honour” killings even in the Telangana State, the CPI leader demanded that the State government get tough against the culprits and ensure that no such incident takes place in the State. (NSS)
