Protesting the desecration of Vladimir Lenin’s statue in Tripura State, Left parties staged a dharna here today. The protestors burnt an effigy of the BJP-led NDA government at Basheerbagh Crossroads raising slogans against the Union government.
CPM State secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and several other leaders participated in the protest. Speaking on the occasion, Thammineni and Chada have alleged that desecration of Lenin statue was best example to the “monarchical attitude” of Sangh Pariwar. Resorting to attacks and encroachment of Left Parties’ offices makes the unruly appearance of Sangh Pariwar public, they remarked.
They urged the secular forces to condemn the incident and alleged that the BJP was destroying the statues with prior plan and they demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to answer for the same. Demanding that Centre arrest the culprits, Thammineni and Chada warned the BJP that they will intensify their movement across the nation. (NSS)
