Telangana CPI Secretary and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy today condemned the arrest of TJAC Chairman Prof Kodandaram.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, Venkat Reddy alleged that the TRS Government was resorting to dictatorial rule by pressing the police to prevent the professor from his proposed Telangana Amarula Spurthi Yatra program. Venkat Reddy expressed surprise as to why the government is indulging in preventing democratic programs. Kodandaram played a key role during statehood movement and carried out publicity on the implementation of the schemes, he said. Kodandaram has responsibility to create awareness among the people on the promises made by the government, the CPI leader said.
“The government was intolerant towards Kodandaram and already arrested him twice and now doing so is totally wrong”, he observed. The leaders and peoples’ unions have right to protest and demand the government to fulfill the promises made, Venkat Reddy said. Such arrests will only bring bad name to the TRS Government, he felt. The CPI leader suggested that the government withdraw such plans to prevent noted personalities from conducting their programs. (NSS)
