Hyderabad, January 20: The CPI today urged Congress president Sonia Gandhi to take a clear stand on Telangana issue and end the uncertainty.
In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, CPI state secretary K Narayana said: “The Srikrishna committee report has added further confusion on the Telangana issue which is responsible for the present uncertain situation. Ultimately political process is the only way…
the Congress, which is ruling the Centre and the state should play a key role.” CPI supports the demand for separate Telangana state. Without taking a firm and clear decision on the issue, the meetings being convened by Union home minister P Chidambaram do not serve any purpose, Narayana said.
“The state Congress president and the chief minister say that they will accept whatever decision taken by the high command. Madam, you are not declaring any policy statement,” he said.
“The Union home minister is conducting an all-party meeting again before Jan 26. You have to make a policy statement on Srikrishna Committee report prior to that,” Narayana demanded.
The uncertainty in Andhra Pradesh has demoralised the industrial sector, affected the state administration and made the students suffer, he said.
