Telangana State CPI secretary and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy today said his party would organize a massive “Jail Bharo” program on May 14 against Land Acquisition Bill being planned by the Centre.
Addressing the media at Makhdoom Bhavan here on Thursday, Venkat Reddy accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of coming up with another draconian Bill to deprive the farmers of their lands and hand them over to corporate companies. The Land Acquisition Bill is totally against the interests of people and farmers, he alleged. As per the call of national party, the Telangana CPI unit would organize protest program of “Jail Bharo” on May 14, he said. He also slammed the Centre for trying to press the bill on parliamentarians. The BJP Government, instead of protecting the interests of the farming community in the country, it was trying to loot them, he contended.
KCR’s allegation refuted
To mark one year of Telangana State formation, the CPI State unit will conduct celebrations in a big way, he declared. He urged Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to call an all-party meeting on the flagship program of Water Grid, he demanded. The CPI leader took serious exception to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s comment that the Left party was against separate Telangana State. He also rubbished the CM’s remarks that the CPI was coming in the way of Telangana development. He said he leaves the issue to the wisdom of the Chief Minister whether CPI was against statehood for Telangana region. He suggested that Chandrasekhar Rao should not make such baseless comments.
