KCR instructs officials to set up 48 Oxygen generation plants in govt hospitals

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed the Medical and Health Department officials to set up 48 Oxygen generation plants in the government hospitals to produce 324 Metric Tonnes of Oxygen required for the Covid patients in the State and also to ensure that there would not be any shortage of the Oxygen in future.

The CM also instructed the officials to set up an additional plant to produce 100 MT of the liquid Oxygen in Hyderabad. The CM instructed that 6 Units of 16 MT plants, 15 units of 8 MT plants, 27 units of 4 MT plants should be set in Hyderabad, Hyderabad district, Areas hospitals.

The CM also asked the Oxygen producers to hand over 11 Tankers with each having the capacity of 20 Tonnes within 10 days. The CM said that in the coming days Telangana State should not face a situation where it is depended on other states for the supply of Oxygen.

On Monday, the CM held a high-level review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan here on Covid.

The CM said since the state government is providing free medical treatment, food, medicines and other facilities to the patients, people should get themselves admitted in the government hospitals for the treatment. He said as on Monday, there are 6926 beds vacant in the government hospitals, of this, there are 2253 Oxygen beds, ICU beds are 533, general beds 4140. The CM urged the people to take the advantage of the treatment in the government hospitals where there is availability of supply of Oxygen, beds, medicines and other facilities for free instead of going to the private hospitals spending huge amounts of money. Since the treatment is one and the same in private and government hospitals, people should prefer the government hospitals, the CM said.

The CM instructed the officials concerned to make arrangments for the equipment and the required medicines in ENT Hospital in Koti, Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad, medical college hospitals in the districts to treat the Black Fungal disease that is spreading for the Corona treated patients. For this, the CM said, if need be, 25 Microdebrider machines, HD Endoscopic cameras be purchased immediately. He also instructed the officials to immediately invite Global tenders for the supply of the vaccines.

The CM also asked the officials to have continuous rapport with the Centre on the vaccination quota and get the vaccines to the state. The officials informed the CM said that so far the state had received 57, 30, 220 doses of vaccine only and as on date there is a stock of 1,86,780 doses of Covaxin and Covishield vaccines in the state. Of this 58230 are Covaxin and 1, 28, 550 are Covishield vaccines.

The CM declared that the government is ready to spend any amount funds for the creation of Medical and health infrastructure facilities. The CM said a decision is taken to set up new medical colleges in Sangareddy, Jagtial, Kothagudem, Wanaparthy, Mancherial, and Mahabubabad.

He also instructed that along with these medical colleges, Colleges of Nursing should also be formed. The CM said in those medical colleges where there are no Nursing Colleges, they should be sanctioned. He said the proposals already submitted for the nursing colleges sanction should be examined immediately.

The CM said to give medical treatment facilities and medicines to the poor in the government hospitals, 12 Regional Sub centres should be formed at Siddipet, Wanaparthy, Mehboobabad, Kothagudem, Nagar Kurnool, Suryapet, Bhongir, Jagtial, Mancherial, Bhoopalpally, Vikarabad, and Gadwal. He said to supply medicines on war footing to the several government hospitals from these Centres, vehicles should be arranged either own or on lease. Similarly, to store the medicines, Cold storage facilities should be set up at the Sub centres. Government hospitals should be given the top priority where the poor are undergoing treatment for the supply of Oxygen. The CM has given clear cut instructions to the officials that there should not be any Oxygen supply shortage in the government hospitals come what may.

He said the government has issued an Order GO No 248, 11 Months back fixing the tariff of the hospitals beds for Covid patients in the private hospitals. Officials said that in TN, Kerala, and Maharashtra and UP and other States are following the same guidelines. They said patients taking treatment in the private hospitals are themselves paying fee.

The CM instructed that the 200-Beded hospitals in Anantagiri in Vikarabad, Singareni, RTC, CISF, Railways, Army and ESI hospitals should be brought in for the Covid treatment.

The CM said it is a good development that there is a decrease in the number of Covid admissions and increase in the number of discharges due to measures taken by the government such as lockdown, fever survey, distribution of Covid Kits etc., He said it is also a good development that the percentage of patients recovering from the Covid is also better. The CM suggested that the medical teams should continuously monitor those identified suffering with symptoms during the fever survey and keep an eye on them. The CM urged people not to entertain any fear or anxiety over Corona.
