As many as 19 people were sent to jail by two different courts for driving their vehicles in inebriated conditions.
The Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu has awarded imprisonment for 12 people for a period of three days each and Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Shiva Shankar Prasad convicted seven respondents for a period of two days each for drunken driving. The Enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend on 21st and 22nd February. A total of 262 cases were booked against Drunk Drivers. They involved 199 two-wheelers, eight 3-wheelers and 54 four-wheelers.
The respondents were produced before the Third and Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Court and were imposed fine of Rs 2,600 each.
Upto 25th February, total 1984 cases have been registered and total imprisonments are 334 as on date. (INN)
