A local court in Warangal on Wednesday granted bail to Telangana Telugu Desam Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
The police arrested Dayakar Rao on Monday at Zaffarghad in the district on the charges of obstructing a police official from performing official and criminal intimidation, during an election rally on March 7 and lodged him at the Central Jail. Earlier, the court rejected his bail petition and remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed at the court premises when the TDP leader was granted bail as large number of advocates and Telangana activists shouted slogans demanding that bail should not be granted to Dayakar Rao. The advocates contended that the TDP leaders have allegedly called them as ‘gundas’ for their alleged role in the March 7 incident at Zaffarghad where the TDP and Telangana activists clashed with each other.
The advocates demanded an apology from Telugu Desam Party leaders. However, under tight police cover, Dayakar Rao was released from jail. (INN)
