Chennai, January 20: A Magistrate court today reserved orders on pleas by advocates associations seeking return of the charge sheet filed by CBI in connection with last year’s clash between police and lawyers in the Madras High Court premises.
Several advocates and policemen besides a judge were injured during the clash on February 19. CBI had recently filed the charge sheet, naming six policemen and 32 advocates.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Killivalavan reserved orders after hearing the arguments of CBI, Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHCA) and Tamil Nadu Advocate Association.
MHCA, which had filed a memorandum praying the court to return the charge sheet, alleged that the CBI investigation was “one-sided”.
“The honourable court should not accept the charge sheet filed by CBI since it is one-sided,” they said.
They wanted to know how several charges could be included in a single FIR.
