Court orders sealing of DM’s official account

Aurangabad, January 08: A Bihar court today ordered sealing of all the bank accounts of Aurangabad district magistrate and district land acquisition officer for their failure to compensate the villagers whose lands were acquired for building a canal in 1986.

“The official accounts of the two officers will remain sealed till the authorities clear the payment of Rs 36 lakh as compensation to the villagers whose land was acquired for the purpose of construction of Sone canal in 1986,” first additional chief judicial magistrate Sahjanand Sharma said.

Sharma passed the order after hearing complaints filed by the villagers.

The residents of Pironta village had filed a complaint in the court seeking its directive to the district official for payment of Rs 36 lakh as compensation for the land acquired for building the canal.
