Court official’s house burgled, room torched

New Delhi, May 30: Unidentified persons burgled the house of a senior court official in north-west Delhi and set a room on fire, a modus operandi similar to that of the ‘burgle and burn’ gang led by a teenager operating in the south Delhi.

The incident took place in the Bharat Nagar residence of Apa Toppo, the head of video conferencing in Teez Hazari courts complex, late last night. Topo and her husband Ashit were not at home when the burglary took place, a senior police official said.

It came to light when the couple returned home, found the door broke open and the house ransacked.

“The burglars knew that the couple were not at home. They locked the doors of the adjoining house from outside to ensure that no one could catch them.
