Senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament K.T.S. Tulsi said the court will hear a petition of an Italian marine, facing murder charges for killing Indian fishermen, seeking extension of his stay in Italy on health grounds next Monday.
He had filed the application in the Supreme Court on behalf of Italian marine, Massimiliano Latorre.
Tulsi said Latorre is scheduled to undergo a heart surgery on January 5.
“Today an application has been filed to extend apex court’s permission until he can travel to India. The application has been mentioned to the Chief Justice, he has ordered its hearing on Monday,” said Tulsi.
The Supreme Court had allowed Latorre to go home on September 12, 2014, as he was ill.
Latorre and another marine Salvatore Girone, part of a military security team protecting a tanker from piracy, are accused of shooting two Indian fishermen off the coast of Kerala in February 2012.
The two men deny killing anyone or aiming directly at the fishing boat.
