Court to hear Gali’s helicopter seizure petition on April 10

The Special Court for CBI at Nampally on Wednesday posted the hearing seeking interim custody of vehicles including helicopter seized by the CBI for April 10.

The court gave these directions following a petition filed by the prime accused in illegal mining case Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Sreenivasa Reddy.

It may be recalled the CBI had seized the Bell 407 helicopter, Rolls Royce and MASERAIT – both imported luxury cars from Janardhan Reddy, while five luxury cars were seized from Sreenivasa Reddy’s house in Bellary. However, the CBI opposed the plea of Janardhana Reddy and Sreenivasa Reddy on February 15.

The probing agency said that the prosecution was likely to file a petition for attachment of the helicopter and the luxury cars under Criminal Law Amendment Act 1944. The CBI also raised apprehensions that the petitioners might sell or alienate the movable properties to third parties and it would be highly difficult to secure them at the time of trial. (INN)
