Court frees GHQ attack accused

Islamabad, April 10: Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) No-II judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain Rawalpindi has acquitted seven accused of the audacious GHQ and Hamza Camp attacks in which 32 people were killed and 55 injured.

The court acquitted Dr Niaz Ahmed, Mazharul Haq, Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Syed Abdul Saboor, Syed Abdul Majid, Syed Abdul Basit and Mohammed Amir due to lack of evidences. They were allegedly involved in suicide attacks at Hamza Camp and GHQ, RA Bazaar Rawalpindi cantonment and New Town Police Station had registered cases against the said accused, involved in two suicide attacks on November 24, 2007.

Two suicide bombers on November 24, 2007, targeted military personnel and installations at two different places in Rawalpindi, claiming over 32 lives.
