Court extends Koneru’s judicial remand till Feb 2

Hyderabad, January 26 (INN): The CBI special court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Koneru Prasad, the key accused in the APIIC-Emaar scam, to February 2.

The court extended Koneru’s custody after he was produced before it through video-linkage from the Chanchalguda Central Prison at the end of his custody.

Responding to Koneru’s plea that jail officials have not shifted him to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences for providing better medical facilities despite the court directions, the court said the jail officials would take a decision at an appropriate time in this regard and the court would not issue any fresh directions.

Earlier, Koneru filed a petition in the court seeking better medical facilities at corporate hospital. However, the CBI said that he could be provided treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences as it has all sophisticated equipment on par with corporate hospitals. He had complained of suffering from severe back pain and alleged that the prison authorities were not providing him proper medical facilities. (INN)
