Court dismisses petition of Satyam accused

Hyderabad, February 16: The AP High Court today dismissed a petition filed by the accused in the Satyam case to discharge them from the case. The petitions were filed by Rama Raju, Vadlamani Srinivas, Ramakrishna and Venkatapathi Raju. However, the CBI counsel argued that the trial of the case is at an advanced stage.

“Already 122 witnesses were examined. The Supreme Court has fixed a deadline for completion of the trial by July 31,” the CBI Counsel said. After hearing the arguments, justice T Gopala Krishna dismissed the petitions.

Conditional nod for BJP meet on February 17

The AP High Court today gave a conditional permission for the BJP to organise a public meeting in Hyderabad on February 17. The city police informed justice R Subhash Reddy that permission was denied because of the enforcement of prohibition orders due to the ensuing Assembly session. Public meeting in the 1 kilometre radius of Assembly is prohibited and Nizam college, the venue of the meeting falls under the radius.

However, after hearing the arguments the judge gave a conditional permission for the meeting and said that the public meeting should not start before 3 pm.

Hearing on DGP’s appointment stayed

The ongoing proceedings about validity of the appointment of K Aravinda Rao as Director General of Police in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) was stayed by the High Court today. The government today challenged the CAT order and approached the High Court to give a stay on technical grounds.
