Court denies Satpal bail in human trafficking case

New Delhi, April 27: The IGI Airport police have tightened its noose around a Jet Airways employee arrested in a human trafficking case in connivance with an immigration officer from IGI Airport on April 2.

The accused Manoj Satpal, who has approached the court, was denied bail by a city court after the prosecution convinced the court regarding his involvement in the racket.

“Satpal had moved a bail petition pleading innocence in the case. However, we produced evidence before the magistrate showing his involvement in the case. The CCTV footage at the immigration counter on the day of his arrest was shown to the magistrate on a laptop,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) RA Sanjeev. The police also produced other evidence including his bank accounts and transactions and mobile phone records that convinced the court to deny bail to the accused.

Notably, Satpal was arrested with an immigration officer Chaman Azhar for illegally facilitating immigration clearance of the passengers. The police are also suspecting involvement of a Delhi Police Sub-inspector who has linked to their nexus. The Sub-inspector Naveen, earlier posted in FRRO, is absconding and a look out circular has been issued against him.
