New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday came down heavily on the Congress Party for disrupting Parliament over the issue of a court summoning Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to appear before it in connection with the National Herald ‘cheating’ case.
The BJP also took strong exception to Sonia Gandhi’s comment that asked the media to decide who the culprit was, saying it is for the courts to decide who is wrong, the media doesn’t decide as to who is right and who is wrong, the media is a messenger.
“The Congress Party disrupted the Parliament and they were sloganeering that the ‘struggle was their key against all the atrocities’, I want to ask them against whom they are struggling against the court or the government or against the development of the underdeveloped section of the society,” BJP leader M. A. Naqvi told the media here.
“It is for the court to decide who the culprit is. Sonia Gandhi says that the media should take a call on who is the culprit. The media can’t do that, it is for the court to decide and it is doing its work,” he added.
Naqvi further said that the behavior of the opposition showed that there was something wrong in the matter.
“Why is there fear? The truth fears none. Let the law take its course and stop politicising the issue and that is why we humbly request the Congress that it should allow the house to function for the sake of the development of the country,” he added.
Dubbing the statement made by the Congress president as ‘awfully wrong’, BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman also said that it is for the courts to decide who the culprit was.
“Particularly on a matter where money collected by a political party is used for a commercial purpose as it is prima facie of some penal codes violated, that is what the court has to go into and prove as per the evidences before them,” Sitharaman told the media here. (ANI)
