Court awards reality show winner a day in jail due to Drunk driving

Mumbai, June 24: Ten days after the traffic police arrested Bigg Boss and MTV Roadies winner Ashutosh Kaushik for drunken driving, the metropolitan magistrate’s court on Tuesday sentenced him to a day’s simple imprisonment.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3100 on him and suspended his driving licence for two years.

“Ashutosh appeared in the court on Tuesday morning. He was sentenced to a day’s imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3100 on him. Moreover, his driving licence was suspended for a period of two years,” said Police Inspector N B Patil, Traffic police division, Andheri.

Ashutosh was arrested for drunken driving at 12.30 am on June 13 on the Andheri Kurla Road. While he was going towards his Marol residence after attending a party in Chakala, traffic policemen intercepted him at J B Nagar and conducted a breath analyser test.

According to the police, he tested positive for alcohol consumption. The police also claimed that he was not wearing a helmet and carrying his driving licence.

Apart from these three offences, Ashutosh was also charged for not obeying the police officials on duty.

According to the police, he obstructed the police personnel from doing their duty and claimed that the police did not have the right to stop and arrest people for any reason. He allegedly created ruckus at the police station also.
