Chamba (HP), June 15: A court here today awarded life imprisonment to a man after finding him guilty of beating his wife to death two years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge Yashwant Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Vikram Jeet Singh, a resident of Chhatrari village, for murdering his wife Rekha.
According to the prosecution, Rekha was found dead at their house on June 9, 2008 and an FIR was lodged against Singh based on the statement of the victim’s father.
He told police that the deceased’s son had seen his father beating up his mother with a stick.
Later police recovered ‘Danda’, the weapon used for the crime at the instance of Singh, and also the clothes which he wore on the fateful day.
