Court adjourns Srilakshmi’s bail petition hearing to Friday

The CBI Court on Thursday posted the hearing on bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi in Obulapuram Mining Corporation’s illegal mining case to March 16.

When the petition came up for hearing, Srilakshmi’s counsel said that his client was eligible to get bail under clause 2 of Section 167 of CRPC as the probing agency has so far not filed chargesheet against her more than 60 days after her arrest.

After hearing the arguments of Srilakshmi’s counsel, the special court adjourned the further hearing to Friday.

In another petition, the special court quashed the bail petition of G V Vijay Raghav, the South Indian head of Emaar MGF Limited. Vijay Raghav was named as the third accused in the CBI’s FIR in the multi-crore Emaar-APIIC scam. He has been charged with cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, falsification of accounts and other sections.

Earlier, Vijay Raghav’s counsel stated that his client was in no way connected to Emaar-APIIC township case and sought bail for his client stating that he was ready to provide any information in this connection to the probing agencies anytime.

However, with the CBI filing chargesheet against Vijay Raghav, the court rejected his bail petition. (INN)
