Court adjourns Mopidevi’s bail petition to Jun 4

Principal Special CBI Court at Nampally today adjourned futher hearing on the bail petition of former Andhra Pradesh Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana to June 4.

e was arrested in the illegal assets case of YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Mr Mopidevi was arrested on May 24 when the court had also granted five-days CBI custody after sending him to judicial remand till June 7.

After the custody ended, the CBI court had lodged him in Chanchalguda Jail yesterday and permitted special class prisoner status.

When his bail petitiion came up for hearing this morning before the Judge a Pulliah, the CBI sought more time to file their objections.

The ex-minister’s counsel faulted the CBI’s stand and said the investigating agency argued for postponement of hearing of the bail petition.

The Judge told the CBI that he would not give any more time to them in the next hearing and directed them to file objections, if any.

Mr Mopidevi while holding the Infrastructure and Investments portfolio in the late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s cabinet issued GOs paving the way for allocation of thousands of acres of land for the Vodarevu and Nizampatnam Ports Industrial Corridor (VANPIC).

Former Minister Mopidevi was the fourth person arrested by the Investigating agency in the disproportionat assets case against Mr Jagan after Jagathi Publications and Jagan’s financial advisor Vijaya Sai Reddy, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and senior Bureacrat KV Brahmananda Reddy.
