Manama, September 27: A BAHRAINI family, haunted by the death of a three-year-old boy who was electrocuted at his home, are planning to move out.
Mohammed Abdulhadi Attyah Abdulhassan died in the bathroom while his mother was giving him a bath on the eve of Eid Al Fitr.
His father Abdulhadi told the GDN that he and his wife could not stay in their house following the tragic accident.

“We feel heartbroken every time we go to the bathroom where the incident happened,” he said.
“We decided to start looking for a new house as we can’t take it any more.”
Mr Abdulhassan said he had been sleeping at his parents’ house in Isa Town during the Eid holidays, while his wife and four children stayed at his in-laws’ residence in Jerdab.
“We won’t go back to that house. It has a tragic memory. We don’t want to live in it and be reminded of his death day after day,” he said.
“We could not celebrate Eid as we were distressed by the loss of Mohammed.”
Investigations, meanwhile, revealed that the house lacked an electrical distribution panel with proper separating switches. The house was separated into two parts and Mr Abdulhassan lived in one of them. A neighbour stayed in the other section.
Sources said an electrical fault in the neighbour’s house “passed through the metal pipes from their bathroom to Mr Abdulhassan’s bathroom, which are separated by a single wall”.
Mr Abdulhassan said the electrical leak hit “our bathroom while my son was being given a bath and resulted in the electrical shock that caused his death”.
Mr Abdulhassan, who works in a document clearing agency, said his neighbour was still living without electricity after authorities disconnected the main power supply to carry out investigations.
“He was asked to change all electrical wirings in the house and to instal a proper electrical distribution panel,” he said.
The GDN reported on Sunday that Mohammed’s mother was giving him a bath at around 5.50pm when they both got an electric shock.
The child was taken to Salmaniya Medical Complex but was declared dead on arrival.
Interior Ministry representatives had contacted the Electricity and Water Authority to check the house.
