A bizarre incident of a couple making their two children consume poison and committing suicide later by hanging themselves due to unbearable financial problems under the Jeedimetla police station limits on Tuesday morning came to light.
According to the Jeedimetla police, Nalla Keshava Rao and his wife Vanaja migrated to Hyderabad from Kolkata some 12 years ago and were residing in Indrasingh Nagar under Jeedimetla police station limits. They were in money lending business and suffered losses. Later, they started snack (samosa) making business for livelihood. To their misfortune, in the new business also they accumulated losses.
Disgusted with the horrible life, the couple made their children, five-year old Deepak and three-year-old Nandini, to consume poison and later they committed suicide in separate rooms by hanging.
Police believe the incident occurred on Monday night. Keshava Rao’s visually impaired mother Chandramma lives in the same house. She told police that she didn’t know what happened last night. The police found the bodies on Tuesday morning after they were alerted by the neighbours. In his suicide note, Keshava Rao blamed one Subba Reddy for the losses he suffered. (NSS)
