Couple consumes hair dye to end lives

Hyderabad, May 23: Unable to stay together as their parents were against their relation, a couple ended their lives by consuming poison on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Kameswara, 22, and Laxmi Narasamma, 19, of Kadapa district. According to the police, the duo was in love for the last few years.

While Kameswara finished his ITI and was looking for a job, a few months ago Laxmi Narasamma was married off to another man.

However, Laxmi could not forget Kameswara and therefore, returned to her parents’ house a month ago.

As her family members started forcing Laxmi to return to her husband, she eloped with Kameswara and came to the city.

Introducing themselves as a married couple, Kameswara managed to find a house for rent at Bhagat Singh Nagar in Chintal.

At about 5.30 am on Sunday, the duo went to Kameswara’s friend Anji Reddy’s house at Chintal and informed him that they have decided to commit suicide and have consumed `Supervasmol’ hair dye.

Reddy noticed froth oozing out of their mouths and immediately called 108 ambulance. The duo were rushed to Gandhi Hospital at about 7 am but succumbed while undergoing treatment within 30 minutes, Jeedimetla SI Ashish Reddy said.

Police found separate suicide notes purportedly written by the couple in their room.

Kameswara wrote that they have decided to end their lives as the family members will not let them live if they return to the native place. He held one Sanjeevaraya as responsible for their death and also stated that Laxmi’s husband was a very nice person.

Laxmi said that she was not happy with her marriage and suicide was the only option left for her as her parents will not let her live with Kameswara.

Police booked a case under section 174 of the CrPC and shifted the bodies for post-mortem.
