Country’s security is top priority of Centre: Kiren Rijiju

Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said the country’s security is the top priority of the Central government and it will not allow anyone to disturb the nation’s peace and harmony.

“The country’s peace and communal harmony will be maintained at any cost and we will never allow anybody to disturb it and those who are attempting to disturb it will be given befitting reply,” Rijiju, who is on a two-day Punjab visit told reporters. He said any attempt made to disturb peace in the country through the international border will always be foiled.

“Such threats are being tackled stringently and security forces are being provided better infrastructure to foil the nefarious designs,” he said. Talking about the purpose of his visit, Rijiju said that he was here to take stock of the border area and problems being faced by the security people and inhabitants and to resolve such problems.

The Union Minister of State for Home said he was here on the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to check the problems being faced by people living in villages near Indo-Pak border. The minister also paid obeisance at the sanctum sactorum of the Golden Temple and paid tribute to the martyrs of historic Jallianwalla Bagh, besides visiting the Integrated Check Post at Attari border.
