Hyderabad, July 26:Ending uncertainty over the date of commencement of counselling for admission
into engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses through Eamcet, the AP
State Council of Higher Education has decided to stick to the July 28 schedule
announced earlier.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the officials of the APSCHE held here today.
The development assumes significance in the wake of the HRD Ministry’s
suggestion that the counselling should be delayed to accommodate more new engineering
colleges for the academic year 2009-10.
“In order to avoid the problems arising out of delayed academic schedule, which
has almost become a yearly phenomenon now, we have decided to go ahead with the
earlier proposed date as mentioned in the notification. Since we are planning to administer
the process in a single phase this time, we are being more careful to avoid
delays,” APSCHE chairman KC Reddy said during a press meet. As the process has
been made web-based for the first time, single phase counselling becomes necessary, he
maintained. Detailing the counselling process, Reddy said certificate verification process will
begin on July 28. Students can choose their options online from July 31 to Aug 12.
Final allotment of seats will be declared online on Aug 17, the chairman said.
There are 531 engineering colleges at present and any additions to the list
will be available on www. apsche.org latest by July 27. No new colleges will be
entertained after the last date. The chairman also suggested that candidates
should approach helpline centres located across the State in case of any doubts
regarding the web-based counselling.
