While addressing a press conference yesterday at Hajj House, Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali informed that a 6 member committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Mr. E. Ismail, Retd. Judge to resolve family disputes. It will start functioning from 1st June at Hajj House. Present on this occasion were Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Special Secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Mohammed Jalaaluddin Akbar, IFS, Director of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Special Officer of Hajj Committee and Director of Urdu Academy and Mr. Syed Vilayath Husain, General Manager of Minorities Finance Corporation. Mr. Mohammed Ali further told that Govt. of Telangana has been taking effective steps for the welfare of Minorities. Two days back “Overseas Studies Scholarship Scheme” was announced to help poor students for their higher studies abroad. Instructions were also issued for providing Urdu as the first language in Schools.
Under Overseas Studies Scholarship Scheme, the poor students will be given financial assistance from Rs. 2-10 lakh. It will not be a loan. A residential school and a hostel will be started in each district of Telangana. Rs. 14 crore each will be provided for this purpose. Out of the total budget of Rs. 140 crore allocated for this purpose, Rs. 75 crore have already been released. Each residential school will have the facility to admit 500 students. Pre-Matric Scholarships to poor students studying in classes 1-5 will be given at the rate of Rs. 1000 and the students from 6-10 standards will get Rs. 5000. Govt. has allocated Rs. 75 crore for this purpose. Govt. is also constructing a post-matric hostel in each district for which Rs. 2.2 crore have been sanctioned. Career Counseling Centers and Skills Development programs are being given top priorities. Rs. 70000 will be given to 1000 unemployed auto drivers as subsidy. The remaining Rs. 70000 would be provided as loan from banks. Women will be given tailoring training for 6-12 months and after which a sewing machine would be provided to them. The Department of Minorities Welfare received 13,903 applications for Shaadi Mubarak Scheme out of 9,701 applications have been sanctioned money and more than 45 crore have been transferred into the bank accounts of the applicants. Exemption has been given for production of birth certificates for the girls for Shaadi Mubarak Scheme. Attempts are being made for the appointment of Urdu Translators. Steps are being taken to improve the functioning of 1715 ITIs in the State so as to facilitate unemployed youths to get professional training. Govt. has also given permission for the construction of a commercial complex adjacent to Hajj House for which a tax exemption of Rs. 4.6 crore has been granted.
