Counsel of Ministers to blame

Hyderabad, July 24: After the TDP and the CPI created an uproar in the recent monsoon session of the Assembly over the leasing out of 1.4 lakh acres in tribal areas of Khammam district to the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) allegedly to favour Rakshana Steels, which is reportedly controlled by the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s son-inlaw Bro Anil Kumar, Chief Minister K Rosaiah, in fact, wanted to order a judicial probe but his Council of Ministers vetoed the proposal.

At a Cabinet meeting held immediately after the session, the Chief Minister himself raised the issue and proposed a judicial inquiry to send out a message loud and clear that in his dispensation, nothing out of turn would be allowed to benefit anyone. But some ministers, loyal to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, did not like the idea and pointed out to him that just because a party wanted a probe, the government need not concede the demand. After a brief debate in the Cabinet, the Chief Minister reportedly told them that he was dropping the idea on their advice but cautioned them that it was a collective decision and if it boomeranged on the government, he was not to blame.
