Council polls: AP Minister rues lack of coordination

Hyderabad, March 24: Congress could have won more seats in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council polls had Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the state party leadership coordinated better with the workers, Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao said today.

“Had Kiran Kumar Reddy coordinated and took the cooperation of all, we would have won six seats as expected (in the polls to Local Authorities’ Constituencies),” Shankar Rao, known for his cheeky remarks, told reporters here.

The party achieved good results in the past when coordination among party leaders was ensured by the likes of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he said.

The ruling Congress hoped to win at least six of the nine LACs, where polls were held. However, former MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s group gave a jolt to the Congress by bagging three seats though with slender margins.
