Council Chairman reviews security for legislature session

Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud today instructed officials concerned to make elaborate security arrangements and put in place all facilities for the four-day session of Assembly beginning on January 17 at 11.30 am.

The Chairman held a meeting with Legislature secretary V Narsimha Charyulu, DGP Mahender Reddy and other officials and discussed on the Assembly and Council sessions head. Assembly has been spruced up for the proceedings and security arrangements were being reviewed by the chairman. The sessions have been scheduled for January 17 to 20.

Governor ESL Narasimhan will administer oath of Pro-tem speaker to MIM MLA Mumtaz Ahemd Khan on January 16 at 5 pm. The protem speaker will chair the Assembly on January 17 and will administer oath to all the 119 MLAs in the House for about two hours followed by a working lunch at lawns of Jubilee Halls. Later, the Assembly as per legislature norms will select full-time Speaker and take oath. The new Speaker will be selected through nomination on January 18 followed by schedule on January 17.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as leader of the House, Leader of the Opposition and others will take the new Speaker to the chair as a tradition. The new Speaker will start the proceedings and announce for BAC meeting to finalize the working days of the House. Governor ESL Narasimhan will address the joint session on January 19. The House will discuss on motion of thanks to Governor speech and pass a resolution on January 20.
