Hyderabad, January 26: A case was registered against the husband of a local corporator for allegedly throwing the National Flag on ground during Republic Day celebrations at L B Nagar locality here today, police said.
Mansoorabad division TDP corporator Latha’s husband Narasimha Reddy and his supporters were booked under Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971.
Reddy, who insisted to hoist the flag, reportedly had an argument with locals. He along with supporters allegedly damaged a cement structure where the flag-pole was erected and threw the tri-colour on the ground, a police official said.
“We have booked a case, however, no arrest has been made so far,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, pro-Telangana activists who tried to disrupt an official function in Adilabad were chased away by police.
