Corporate culture tarnished religious identity of Muslim youth

It is the tragedy of Muslim Ummah of the subcontinent India that its new generation is lacking education. Whatever little educational talent exists that is because of the daughters of Ummah.

There was a time when girls’ education was considered improper but while trying to change this perspective we have fallen into yet another trouble. While the daughters of Ummah excelled in educational field, the boys continued to lag behind.

This is the reason that today Muslim girls are more educated than Muslim boys. An astonishing revelation came to the fore in the ‘face to face’ programme organized by Siasat daily that Muslim girls have left Muslim boys far behind in the educational field and there is no sphere left where the girls have not brought laurels. But the darker side of the situation is that when parents start searching life partner for their daughters they don’t get a suitable match. As for the boys who are highly qualified and well settled, poor parents of the girls are incapable of fulfilling their demands.

Today corporate sector is gaining momentum and it is providing employment opportunities to Muslim youth too in large numbers. But the youth working in corporate sector have succumbed to several vices fostering in the field. When poor and middle class boys and girls started earning a fair amount they became spendthrift. Besides they are given special names, the reason they give for this is that the employees dealing with customers should have easy names and they should not reveal religious identity as it will affect company’s reputation. Muslim employees are deliberately given Hindu or Christian names.

The promotional programmes conducted at corporate sector promote indecency. These programmes are continued late night where having drinks is a common phenomenon. Those who are firm in their beliefs keep themselves away from these absurdities but others easily fall prey to various vices.

Employees working in this sector have to work in night shifts too. No wonder that girls and boys working at night in same institution are said to have developed intimate relations with each other. Several non Muslim employees working in these institutions live under one roof without marriage for which the term ‘Live in’ is prevalent. In addition to that employees of corporate institutions enjoy week-end parties and even Muslim girls attend those parties carried on till late night.
