The City police Commissioner today informed Ganesh idols can be installed in public places and other localities only after obtaining prior permission in writing from the concerned Divisional Assistant Commissioners of Police. In a release, Commissioner Anurag Sharma also said the Ganesh Festival this year will commence from September 19 and the immersion would take place on September 29. Permission has to be sought from the police for installing each idol and for immersion. Restrictions have been imposed on use of loud speakers usage. In another release, Commissioner Anurag Sharma, cautionining against forcible collection of money or donations from the public by anti-social elements for celebrating the festival, said such practices will not be allowed as it might lead to disturbance of public peace.
