Sangareddy, March 17: “My husband Kondal Reddy was held in Pune on 11th March and killed in Warangal,” alleged his wife Madhavi Jyothi. “Police tried to kill me also in an `encounter’, but I remained alive approaching the Human Rights Commission,” she said.
After participating in the last rites of her husband in Chittapur, Jyothi spoke to mediapersons.
Fighting back tears, she said police had killed her husband who always fought for the rights of the poor. “Before leaving home on March 11, he told me that some unidentified persons have been following him for the last five days and suspected that they were police,” she said. “Kondal Reddy told that I should consider he was arrested by the police if he does not contact me,” Jyothi said and wept that her husband’s fear came true.
“My husband left home in civil dress but was found in uniform at the encounter site,” she pointed out and alleged that he was tortured to death.
She and Kondal Reddy’s brother S Ramalinga Reddy (former TRS MLA) demaned a legal inquiry into the issue.
