Kendrapara, October 17: A pregnant woman, hailing from here, on Friday lodged a police complaint alleging that a group of police personnel barged into her house last night, molested her and beat up her two minor children.
In her complaint filed with the Kendrapara superintendent of police, Anwara Biwi claimed that the policemen who came in two jeeps broke open main gate of her house, hurled abusive language at her, beat her with batons and molested her at gunpoint.
According to her, the cops were from neighbouring Jagatsinghpur district and did not even spare her minor son and daughter.
While leaving the spot, the accused snatched away Rs 18,000 cash and jewellery. They also threatened of dire consequence if the incident was made public, she alleged in the petition.
The woman, who is pregnant, has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital here.
There was no adult male member at the house at the time of the incident as her spouse is working in Saudi Arabia.
Reacting to the charge, Kendrapara SP Narsunder Mishra said, “I have taken up the complaint with my counterpart in Jagatsinghpur district. The allegations, if found to be true, are serious in nature. Then the errant cops would be taken to task.”
