Hyderabad, April 25: A day after a woman’s feet were chopped off for the sake of stealing her anklets, Shamshabad police identified the accused as one Srinivas on Sunday. However, the accused is still at large.

Shamshabad police said the victim, E Padma, a labourer, informed that the accused came in contact with her three days ago at a toddy shop.

Padma is an alcoholic and frequently visits the toddy shop. The accused introduced himself as Srinivas to her.

Padma, who is suspected to be a sex worker, went to have intercourse with the accused in the nearby bushes at a toddy shop near Shamshabad.

Later, the accused requested Padma to give him the silver anklets worn by her. When she refused to do so, the accused forcefully chopped her ankles with the help of a stone to remove the anklets.

He also took away her ear tops weighing five grams.

Cyberabad police showed various photographs of criminals but Padma failed to recognise the accused.

Police also made efforts to portrait the offender’s pictures but the victim could not cooperate as she is badly injured.
