Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police is yet again in news for its arrogance and victimization.
This time a Lucknow sub-inspector has drawn public’s wrath with his arrogant behavior towards a 75-year-old lady who was found pleading on her knees with folded hands in front of him while the SI remains seated comfortably with his legs crossed, News18 reports.
The Sub-inspector Tej Pratap Singh, posted with Gudamba Police Station was suspended by the Lucknow SSP Kalanidhi Naithani after his 27-second clip of the cruel behavior towards the old lady went viral.
According to reports, the old lady identified as Brahma Devi even fell at the SI’s feet pleading to register an FIR for her 20-year-old deceased grandson, Akash Yadav who was crushed under a machine while working in a plywood factory.
However the police only took action against the factory owner after the video went viral, yet no arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, the Lucknow police issued a public statement that an inquiry against the officer in the clip has been initiated and he was suspended.
The relatives of the deceased labour have alleged that the factory owner Ajay Gupta had “been using old and outdated machinery” which caused the incident.
The owner Gupta has since then reported being absconding.
