Hyderabad: A police constable attached to Bahadurpura police station was electrocuted in a Shiva temple while discharging his duties.
According to the information, there was commotion and minor stampede with a large number of devotees thronged the Shiva temple in Bahadurpura on the occasion of Maha Shivarathi festival. When an electric wire got snapped, the panicked devotees ran helter skelter. Police constable Srinivas, who was posted at the temple, rushed to the rescue of the frightened devotees and got electrocuted in the process.
In another incident, stampede occurred in the famous Shiva temple in Srikalahasti in Chittoor district on Monday when hundreds of devotees thronged the temple for darshan. When the temple gates were opened, a huge number of devotees surged forward suddenly causing a stampede. A housewife of Guntur town and many devotees were injured. They were rushed to a hospital immediately. (NSS)
