Cop dies after surgery

Hyderabad, April 17: The death of a police constable from Medak district in a corporate hospital here sparked protests by relatives of the deceased alleging that the constable died because of doctors’ negligence.

According to the Punjagutta police, K Narsimhulu (50), a head constable at the Hadnoor police station in Medak district and native of Sadashivpet, recently underwent tests at the Yashoda Superspeciality Hospital on Raj Bhavan Road here and was diagnosed with a malady in the gall-bladder. The tests were reportedly conducted on April 9 and the doctors advised him to undergo a surgery.

A surgery was performed on Narsimhulu on April 10. On April 13, he reportedly developed complications and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit. He died today.

Narsimhulu’s relatives alleged that his death was caused by doctors’ negligence and staged a protest in front of the hospital. On a complaint lodged by the constable’s wife, Anasuya, police registered a case of negligence against the hospital.
