An alcoholic father who tries to sell his two children to a childless couple at Mahbubabad district of Telangana was arrested on Tuesday.
According to the sources, the man, identified as T Raju was moving suspiciously with his children, Ramesh (5) and Jeevan (4) at the bus stand in Gudur of Mahabubabad district. Suspecting him, the locals informed the police who arrested Raju and the couple.
Alcohol Addiction:
Raju is an alcohol addict and his wife had died recently. He had no source of income so, he decided to sell his children.
SP of Mahabubabad, N Koti Reddy said, “Cases of kidnapping have been registered against the buyers and the children’s father. The two children have been handed over to the district child protection unit.”
The President of Balala Hakkula Sangham (Child Rights Organisation), demanded the police to register cases of trafficking against the father and the buyers.
The children need to be moved to a Sishu Gruha as they would not be safe with their father in the future, he added.
